Contours in the Crosshairs
In this installation I approach the issue of climate change and the disappearance of the world’s glaciers. Funded by the Edmonton Arts Council, the exhibition includes: photographs of the Columbia Ice Fields; a sculptural pile of broken glass; and video projected onto a suspended car windshield. |

The video shows the gradual erasure of the topographical contour lines of the glacier while the night view from the car windshield passes by beneath. The beauty of the formalist images and seductive quality of the sparkling blue-green glass gives way to expose the violent residue of broken car windows and the poignantly silent loss of the glacier. The aesthetic appeal of the installation invites viewers to contemplate the collective responsibility for our behaviour and its impact on the environment.
