Difference and Repetition

A photographic project with which I look for traces of human presence in places of transit within our built environment. A speculative search for traces of new possibility that may be revealed in the unforeseen changes that occur. These abstracted patterns of worn paint on concrete stairwell landings may be evidence of difference through unintended intervention or, perhaps, they may be proof of the repetition of institutional discipline.

"Traditionally, power was what was seen, what was shown, and what was manifested ... Disciplinary power, on the other hand, is exercised through its invisibility; at the same time it imposes on those whom it subjects a principle of compulsory visibility."
