Screening Room
Screening Room is a wireless audio / video installation funded by the Canada Council. The objective is to explore the possibility of shifting established meaning through the removal of information. It begins with classic novels that had been adapted for commercial film. The book text is concealed, the film dialog is edited out, and the visuals of the film are entirely removed. All that remains is a still image of the book and the edited sounds of the film. Even with the drastic reduction of information this work remains able to convey alternate narrative meanings.
Installation with directional wireless headphones.
